Jan Koum is donating $200 million to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in what is being described as the largest philanthropic donation in the history of Israel’s healthcare system.
The contribution will fund a new inpatient tower and housing for medical staff, helping triple the size of the Jerusalem hospital. Koum, who co-founded WhatsApp before selling it to Meta for nearly $19 billion, has become a major supporter of Jewish and pro-Israel initiatives around the world.
