The excavations at the Sumerian Royal Cemetery of Ur, located in southern Mesopotamia and dating back to 3800 BC, uncovered a wealth of treasures, including gold, silver, and semiprecious stones, hidden within the deep royal tombs. These excavations were overseen by British archaeologist Leonard Woolley in 1928.
