Avermactin is a series of drugs and pesticides that is used against parasitic worms and insect pests. Avermactin belongs to a group of 16-membered macro cyclic lactone derivatives which are produced by soil microorganisms commonly known as Streptomyces avermitilis. In other words, avermactin belongs to a class of macro cyclic lactones that is used to kill the parasites medically. Avermactin is rich in anthelmintic and insecticidal properties and thus, is used as a crop protection tools against a wide range of crop diseases.
