Shravan Maas, also referred to as sawan spiritual month dedicated to lord shiva. Devotees strictly follow the special guidelines and things that purify their mind, body, and soul. Fasting every Monday in July and August (Sawan Somwar) is one of the most significant rituals in this month. Fasting means observing shivratri on Mondays during the holy month, to attain blessings from Lord Shiva to grow spiritually.A typical devotee usually will avoid consuming non-vegetarian meals, alcohol, tobacco, and avoid some, depending on their level of dedication, are onions and garlic. It is recommended to eat a sattvic meal and stick to the purity, fresh food and simple living. Devotees will pray, chant, or offer items like the sacred Bel leaves, milk, water, and flowers to lord Shiva.Many devotees also go to temples for abhishekam to perform bathing Lord Shiva through the Shiva linga and to connect with the Lord to keep the divine energy at work through the spiritual connected space. Shravan is all about devotion to Shiva, discipline, and interpreting inward. It is important to follow and practice any of the above simple rules with pure intention to keep peace, positivity, and energy flow in their lives throughout the holy month.
