If you’ve been exploring the world of Where Winds Meet for a while, you’ve probably noticed how much time can disappear when you’re hunting for chests, oddities, and attribute boosts scattered across the map. After spending a good part of my morning testing the Treasure Seeker skill, I can confidently say it’s one of the most impactful upgrades you can unlock early on. It completely changes how you move through the world and how fast you gain exploration attributes, which also affects your character power and late-game efficiency.

Below, I’ve pulled together a clean and practical breakdown of how Treasure Seeker works, how to unlock it fast, and a reliable route to boost Perception and Elegance without getting stuck searching all over the map. If you’ve been feeling the grind lately, this guide should smooth things out a lot.

Why Treasure Seeker Is So Strong

Treasure Seeker highlights nearby chests directly on your mini-map. No more guessing, no more wandering in circles. As soon as you start flying or sprinting across a region, new chest markers pop up one after another. During my first hour using it, I went from around 7000 exploration points to more than 8100 just by following each ping and cracking open every chest I saw. It even shows underground chests that require you to smash downward to reveal them, which saved me a surprising amount of time.

If you’ve ever looked into Where Winds Meet boosting strategies to reduce the grind, this skill alone gives you some of that efficiency through pure gameplay, making progression feel a lot smoother.

Requirements for Unlocking Treasure Seeker

To unlock Treasure Seeker, you need a combined 600 points in your exploration attributes. This includes Resolve, Elegance, Perception, Coordination, Intelligence, and so on. Thankfully, most of these level up naturally through exploration tasks such as collecting oddities, clearing strongholds, or participating in archery challenges.

The two stats that matter most for this skill are Perception and Elegance. Perception tends to rise quickly because many oddities reward it directly. Elegance, on the other hand, requires a bit more targeted effort, but once you know where to go, it becomes much easier.

How to Boost Perception Quickly

Perception comes from oddities scattered across every region. These include glowing flowers, toads, flying pigeons, swallow nests, and other small interactive events. Each oddity gives a random exploration attribute, but a large number of early-region oddities lean toward Perception.

If you haven’t done it yet, run a full sweep through the first major zone. Many players (myself included) hit around 90 to 100 Perception without even trying. If you want to speed things up even more, the archery competitions across the world are a consistent and repeatable source of Perception.

How to Raise Elegance Efficiently

Elegance is where most players slow down, but it doesn’t have to be difficult. You raise it by petting cats and eating food from street vendors. Every food stall has a signature dish and a special dish. Buying ten signature dishes and five special dishes maxes your friendship with that vendor, unlocks some side benefits, and gives you food items that each raise Elegance when eaten.

The fastest method is to fly above Kiang City and drop down whenever you see the bowl icon on your map. Each vendor gives you two Elegance from the food you buy. Combined across the full city, this adds up fast.

You’ll also want to note each vendor’s special food buff. Some dishes boost hunting crit rate, which helps when you’re farming crafting materials. Others support mining or gathering, so it’s worth writing down which vendors sell what.

Running Out of Commerce Coins? Easy Fix

Most players eventually hit the same problem: you don’t have enough currency to buy all that food. If you’re short on coins, head to the northern part of the first region, near Path of the Void. There’s a Meow Meow Temple that sells coin boxes as long as you’ve collected cat bells from the world’s cat quests.

Buying ten coin boxes gives you a massive chunk of Commerce Coins all at once. It’s easily enough to fund your entire Elegance route in one go. Before you leave, make sure to pet every cat around the temple; there are roughly ten just in this one area.

Hotspots for Cat Farming

If you still need more Elegance, there are two major cat hotspots you shouldn’t miss:

  1. Kitty Cat Café near the Grand Imperial Temple This small area has multiple cats grouped together, making it one of the densest Elegance farming spots. Teleport to the temple, glide down, and pet everything you see.

  2. Ghost Light Market (during daytime hours) At 7 AM in-game time, the Ghost Market changes and becomes home to roaming ghost cats. If you have the ghost armor from the Forsaken Quarter questline, you can walk through the market safely and interact with everything inside. There are around six ghost cats here, though they’re a bit spread out.

Remember, you can check the regional attribute summary in your world map to see which areas actually contain cats before wasting time flying around.

What Happens After You Unlock Treasure Seeker

Once Treasure Seeker is active, the entire pacing of the game shifts. Every few steps, a chest marker appears, and many chests are grouped near oddities, cats, or unique world events. It becomes a chain reaction of constant rewards, which makes gaining exploration points far easier than before.

If you’re thinking ahead toward late-game progression or considering whether a Where Winds Meet max level boost would save time, unlocking Treasure Seeker basically gives you a free, built-in version of that idea. It naturally speeds up how you gather exploration points, and it opens up routes that let you mix chest-hunting, oddity farming, and cat petting into one smooth loop.

Treasure Seeker is one of those upgrades that makes you wonder how you played without it. The combination of efficient chest tracking, boosted exploration points, and synergy with Elegance and Perception farming creates a much more rewarding open-world experience. If you’re still working toward unlocking it, follow the Perception and Elegance paths above, keep an eye on key hotspots, and don’t forget to prepare enough coins before hitting the food stalls.
