Game 6 Preview: Clemson Travels to Take on Boston College

I'm certainly happy to be writing one of these coming off a win and a relatively strong performance after the Tigers handled UNC 3810 last week. Now the questions become how much of that was Clemson figuring things out and how much of it was UNC being a total mess? Boston College has likewise struggled so far this year, but they are much more structurally sound as a program and team than the Tarheels despite their 14 record. It is easy to look at how Pittsburgh blew them out of the stadium last week and overlook the Eagles, but Penn State certainly found out the hard way last week at UCLA what could happen if you do that. BC is built well enough in the places that could give Clemson trouble if the Tigers revert to some of the execution lapses that led to their 13 Defense vs https://www.clemsontigersfansshop.com/221-Trent_Howard_Jersey. BC Offense: I was not happy with how Clemson came out defensively last week as UNC did a lot what others have done so far, which is hit short throws and methodically move it into scoring position. Their one explosive play on that drive should never have happened, and Terrell's blitz forced a wounded duck of a throw that somehow two or three Tiger defenders never seemed to see or make a play on. Great call, but not great execution by the second and third levels behind the blitz. That said, the Tigers were great on defense the rest of the half with the starters and started delivering physical punishment all over the place that was audible through the TV screen. Seeing Tom Allen on the sideline roaming like a madman was, for me, a sight for sore eyes as I continue to cope with postBrent Venables withdrawals. I think that move was a definite positive in getting the defense locked in a lot more quickly, especially compared to the Syracuse my X Factor for last week, Wade Woodaz, had a pretty quiet afternoon, Clemson's defensive alphas showed up as a group much more than at any other point this year and the difference was huge. Terrell was a beast, as were Hampton, Parker, Woods, Green, and Capehart. Sammy Brown showed up in a big way as well, and Khalil Barnes looked much more like the difference making safety we all hoped he would be this season. Clemson did get fortunate on one badly busted coverage that UNC couldn't complete in bounds, but overall the first group looked its best. Now we have to see if UNC's struggling offense was the biggest 's offense has some of what Syracuse brought to the table and it was enough to torch Clemson's defense. They have a capable passer with Dylan Lonergan, a physical running back in Turbo great name Richard, and a scheme that can more than take advantage of free release short game mixed with play action shots which have given the Tigers fits most of the season. Pittsburgh just brought the house with extremely aggressive coverage calls which have been their staple under Pat Narduzzi. He's always been willing to take his chances with being burned on big plays over the top in exchange for creating negative plays and stuffing run games Michael Mankaka Jersey. We will see how Tom Allen chooses to approach things on Saturday in terms of how aggressive he wants to be. Ideally, Clemson's front can generate enough havoc and clog the run lanes to allow Allen to protect the safeties and Tiger positions from being exposed in man coverages. Terrell and Hampton can be counted on more often than not, but teams have come after the recently departed Shelton Lewis as well as Tink Kelley and Ricardo Jones when they can get them isolated in man coverage. Jones appeared to be the one who busted on the big play UNC just missed by being out of bounds. As frustrating as it has been to see so many short completions given up, Allen is likely more concerned with not giving up cheap touchdowns if he can help 's DL was particularly good last week and this will be a better test to see if they can continue that level of play https://www.clemsontigersfansshop.com/343-Avieon_Terrell_Jersey. It certainly looked a lot more like what most Clemson fans had expected to see from that group this season. Clemson definitely started affecting Max Johnson more than they were able to bother quarterbacks in the previous game, and it started leading to some rushed throws and inaccuracy like you would hope. Dabo Swinney has lamented the team's not generating a turnover the last two weeks, and hopefully Clemson can do that this week like Pitt did to help bury the Eagles early on in their X Factor this week is Khalil Barnes. Barnes played well last week and has proven to be a ball hawk who can generate takeaways during his career.
