What is Innovative Community Participation?
Innovative community participation is a form of NDIS support that provides participants with structured opportunities to learn life skills while participating in real-world experience. Innovative community participation differs from standard community participation support in that it supports participants to develop creativity and personal growth through exploration, relationship building, and community participation.
Innovative community participation programs provide structured opportunities for participants to improve their communication, independence, social skills, problem-solving skills, self-confidence, and self-expression, while providing them with support in their learning and development.
The development of innovative community participation programs at Unibella is based on the unique needs, goals, and talents of each participant so that they feel empowered and supported throughout their participation.
How Does Innovative Community Participation Benefit Participants of the NDIS?
Innovative community participation programs are designed to provide a pathway to independence and inclusion for participants of the NDIS. Participants may wish to learn a new hobby, socialise with like-minded individuals or explore employment within their community, and the program is structured to assist in the development of confidence and capability over time. There are many advantages to using Innovative Community Participation (ICP):
Improved socialisations, friendships and social skills
Improved mental health & emotional resilience
Increased independence & growing confidence making decisions
Experiencing new environments and new activities
Assistance on how to explore work, study or volunteer pathways
All these opportunities do more than fill a calendar, they also help to build life skills and create paths toward opportunity.
