The Indian Gaming Association (IGA) is one of 10 tribal groups that recently contested the legality of agreement website Kalshi offering sports-betting-like contracts in the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission's (CFTC) roundtable market.

"The IGA highly urges the CFTC to make it clear that Sports Contracts are restricted from being noted or provided for cleaning or trading," the not-for-profit gaming group that represents more than 180 tribes wrote in a letter.

"Trading of Sports Contracts is video gaming, violates state and federal law, and contrasts public policy for numerous factors," the letter continues.

The IGA argued that the listing and trading of those contracts would ruin the worth of tribal video gaming compacts with U.S. states and hurt their sports wagering income.
